5 must-see looks from New York Fashion Week’s Tuesday shows

With Naeem Khan, Oscar de la Renta and Badgley Mischka all showing on the same day, eveningwear was a focal point. And it’s hard not to daydream about the Oscars red carpet, coming up in a few short weeks.

Prints can be difficult to pull off on the red carpet, but we’d love to see a starlet in this strapless ball gown, or the piece with red velor bodice and pink satin skirt.

The art deco-inspired pieces were lovely, especially the glittering silver columns. But we can’t help imagine the first lady in this lamé halter. White House Correspondents’ Dinner, perhaps?


Jenny Packham

This collection had similarly beautiful beadwork, as well a stunning silk slip.


Narciso Rodriguez

Rodriguez’s beautiful basics were chic yet instantly wearable.




At the other end of the spectrum were sisters Laura and Kate Mulleavy, with a show that was neither for evening nor particularly wearable. However, the “Star Wars” prints were playful and certainly left an impression.
