Does Jennifer Lawrence have stock in the gifs or something? As usual, J-Law, didn’t waste any time doing something screengrab-worthy at an awards show, promptly tripping on a traffic cone almost immediately as she arrived at the red carpet.
Twitter immediately started buzzing, especially since this makes two Oscars in a row when Lawrence fell over: She famously tripped on the stairs on the way to collect her Best Actress award for “Silver Linings Playbook.”
Host Ellen DeGeneres even devoted a lengthy portion of her monologue to J-Law’s multiple spills: “Jennifer, by the way, I’m not going to bring up what happened last year when you…” DeGeneres trailed off, making a hand-motion of someone falling over.
“It’s ridiculous, something like that happens and it’s embarrassing, and people talk about it,” DeGeneres continued, as Lawrence cracked up in her seat next to Bradley Cooper. “For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, last year she fell on the way up…let’s show the clip.”
DeGeneres was just kidding. And hey, this is a Twitter world, so may as well reference something that likely no one at the actual awards ceremony has seen yet: “The thing when you fell out of the car tonight? No one needs to know that, I’m not going to mention that,” DeGeneres said, continuing: “She fell out of the car, like on an orange cone you tripped or something.”
DeGeneres concluded: “If you win tonight, I think we should bring you the Oscar,” she said, to loud laughter. “We can do that, right?”
Another downside to J-Law: Some Twitter users appear to be tired of her quirky “I’m just a regular gal who trips and falls and has embarrassing moments!” act.
