From Johnny Cash and June Carter to Sonny and Cher to Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, the husband-wife joint concert tradition has been long been a way for star couples to simultaneously spend time together while making a gazillion dollars. Now, Jay Z and Beyonce are joining the club with a stadium tour this summer.

The news of the “On the Run” tour broke in the typical triumphant-disguised-as-low-key announcement that Jay Z and Beyonce seem to really enjoy. Along with a giant picture of the couple wearing ski masks, a list of tour dates was published Monday on Beyonce’s Web site. The 16-date tour kicks off in Miami on June 25, wraps up in San Francisco on Aug. 5 and includes a stop at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on July 7. (More shows may be added.)

People had been whispering about the possibility of a tour for a while, with speculation sparking around the time the power couple opened the Grammy Awards together with a rendition of Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love.” (The tour is named after their song “Part II (On the Run)” from Jay Z’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail” album last year.)

This will force the relatively private couple (as far as A-listers go, anyway) into the spotlight together. Married since spring 2008, while they do keep a semi-low profile as a family, they also post a lot of Tumblr photos of their toddler daughter, Blue Ivy.

No word on how much they’ll perform together or separately, or who will close or open the show, or really any other details. But without knowing much of anything, it’s fair to assume this show is going to be a spectacle.
