Multiple people were injured when shots were fired at Chris Brown’s pre-VMA party at a club in Los Angeles early Sunday, police confirmed. TMZ reports that one victim is rap/hip-hop producer Suge Knight.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that there were three victims (two men and a woman) after a shooting at 1OAK nightclub in West Hollywood around 1:40 a.m. and that there were “no life-threatening injuries.” The investigation is ongoing, and the victims’ names have not been released. There’s also no information yet on the shooter.

TMZ first reported on the incident and said that Knight, 49, walked out of the party himself and that police put him in an ambulance. According to the site, Knight’s family said that he is recovering in the ICU after undergoing surgery and that he was shot six times.

Brown hosted the celebrity-studded party one day before MTV’s Video Music Awards at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. (The party was not affiliated with MTV.) On Saturday night, Brown posted a photo on Instagram with the caption:Pre-VMA Party @1oakla tonight! #XTheAlbum 09/16/14,” plugging his upcoming album.

Later, after the chaos occurred, Brown tweeted, “It’s disappointing that we as a society can’t have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes.”

Brown, on probation for charges stemming from his beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, is expected back in D.C. court on Sept. 8 in connection with his misdemeanor assault charge last fall for allegedly punching a man outside the W Hotel. The R&B singer, who was in town at the time for a Howard University homecoming party, recently rejected a plea deal.
