The Washington PostDemocracy Dies in Darkness

The spotlight lands on Sean Douglas, Michael Keaton’s son. Sorry folks, he’s married.

Ever since “Birdman” came out, giving Michael Keaton a second chance at Hollywood glory, the media has been fairly obsessed with the former Batman. It’s been the Michael Keaton show for months. And now that the actor has made his phoenix-like ascent complete, nabbing a Golden Globe in the process, public interest has moved on — but not too far.

While giving his acceptance speech last night, Keaton offered up a tearful thank you to his best friend: “My best friend is kind, intelligent, funny, talented, considerate, thoughtful and … did I say kind?” Keaton gushed. “He also happens to be my son, Sean. I love you with all my heart, buddy.”

The camera then shot to Keaton’s good-looking son in the audience, and viewers immediately forget entirely about the actor onstage as they searched for more information about his offspring.

So who is he?

His name is Sean Douglas. (Michael Keaton was born Michael Douglas, but uses a stage name for pretty obvious reasons.) He’s 31 years old and he’s also in the entertainment industry. He’s a songwriter, and if you’ve ever had Demi Lovato’s “Heart Attack” stuck in your head, then you can blame/thank Douglas.

He’s also worked with Madonna, Timbaland and Jason Derulo on hits such as “Talk Dirty” (Sample lyric: Been around the world, don’t speak the language. But your booty don’t need explaining. All I really need to understand is when you talk dirty to me.)

Douglas is Keaton’s only child, and the product of the actor’s marriage to Caroline McWilliams. The pair were married from 1982 until 1990, and McWilliams died in 2010.

Speaking of marriage, sorry ladies and gents, Douglas is taken. He got hitched last year to Rachel Bartov, who works at Creative Artists Agency.
