The product: BMW i3 electric car

Former "Today" show anchors Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel reunite for BMW's i3 Super Bowl ad. (BMW)

The premise: In 1994, TV anchors Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel puzzle over this newfangled thing called “The Internet.” “That little mark with the ‘a’ and then the ring around it?” asks Gumbel. “At,” says a woman off-camera. “See, that’s what I said,” says Gumbel. “Katie said she thought it was ‘about’ … What is Internet, anyway?”

The punchline: It goes downhill from there, as Couric and Gumbel echo the same conversation in their bewilderment at the technology behind the new BMW i3. They throw in a stale joke about twerking, for good measure.

The verdict: You only really need to watch the first 30 seconds.
