The big celebrity news of the day: Barry Manilow, the famed 70s pop singer who brought us such delightful hits as “Copacabana” and “Looks Like We Made It,” reportedly recently got married to his manager, Garry Kief.

Manilow, 71, has always been famously private about his relationships, so the news was a surprise to many. (Though some diehard Manilow fans may know that he was briefly married to his high school girlfriend, Susan Deixler, in the early 1960s.) According to Us Weekly, which reported the news along with People Magazine, Manilow has never talked about his sexual orientation.

Though Manilow’s rep wouldn’t comment, the tabloids were full of details on the secret wedding. Yep, apparently Manilow and Kief pulled one of those celebrity “surprise, you thought you were just coming over to our house but you’re actually at a wedding!” events, and invited about a small group over to Manilow’s Palm Springs, Calif., house for the nuptials. The National Enquirer, the first with the news, says Suzanne Somers was the “best man.”

Twitter, meanwhile, had a field day with the “Barry and Garry” coupling — so if you were tempted, someone already made the joke.
