Ever since Missy Elliott’s triumphant return to the stage at this year’s Super Bowl, her fans, old and new, have been curious about what she was going to do next. Now there’s something we can all obsess over: Elliott’s video for “WTF (Where They From),” her new song with Pharrell which debuted on YouTube Thursday morning.

Elliott, 44, hasn’t released a studio album since 2005’s “The Cookbook,” but following the Super Bowl, streams and downloads of her hits like “Work It” and “Lose Control” enjoyed enormous boosts. Elliott was diagnosed with Graves’ Disease three years ago, which hampered her life significantly. “WTF” is her first single since releasing “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat,” both collaborations with Timbaland, in 2012.

She’s been dropping hints all year about new work via social media, usually posting pictures of herself in a recording studio with Pharrell or Timbaland or any other number of collaborators.

As for the video, there’s mirrored lipstick, and a variation on Missy’s trademark track suits that makes her resemble a glamorous, afrofuturistic female Electro. Also featured? A cameo by Les Twins, best known as Beyoncé’s seemingly boneless backup dancers, and marionette versions of Pharrell and Missy.
