Seth Meyers made a joke about high school marching bands on Thursday’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” It did not go over well.

“Over 1,000 clowns performed at this morning’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” Meyers told his audience. “Said the clowns, we prefer to be called high school marching bands.”

It’s pretty well-documented that you don’t mess with marching bands. Just ask Jim Rome.

After being called out for the diss, Meyers very quickly apologized and invited marching band members to send him their best videos. They’ll be posted on his show’s Web site and Meyers also plans to tweet them. If the video happens to include an epic burn against Meyers, it might make it onto the show.

The “Late Night” host has already RT’d this gem:

Seth Meyers sat at his desk (again!) instead of standing for his monologue. What does it all mean?
