Colgate’s Super Bowl PSA reminds you to turn off the tap

Colgate is advertising in the Super Bowl for the first time with a message to save water. (Video: Colgate)

The product: Colgate toothpaste

The premise: A man brushes his teeth and leaves the tap running. As we hear the familiar brushing sound, a series of hands reach into the sink to wash a pear, fill a cup and — the real heartrender — splash water into the mouth of a little girl.

The PSA: “Brushing with the faucet running wastes up to four gallons of water. That’s more than many people around the world have in a week.”

The verdict: Effective. Who are you jerks that still leave the tap running while you brush? They taught us not to do that in elementary school.
