Jones's tweets in the past have won her praise, fans and a trip to the Rio Olympics. But the "Saturday Night Live" comedian has also been subjected to nasty trolls, particularly around the release of the all-female "Ghostbusters" reboot that upset some men aggrieved by seeing women sport proton packs.
Jones, the movie's only black star, had retweeted some of those hateful messages for the world to see.
I feel like I'm in a personal hell. I didn't do anything to deserve this. It's just too much. It shouldn't be like this. So hurt right now.— Leslie Jones (@Lesdoggg) July 19, 2016
But last month's hack against Jones, which reportedly included posting private documents and nude photographs, has led to a Department of Homeland Security investigation.
After the online attack, everyone from Katy Perry to Hillary Clinton rushed to offer Jones support.
Jones responded to Clinton on Sunday, tweeting "Thanks boo! You are gonna be a kick a– President!! SLAY ALL DAY! USA!"
As for the "The Golden Girls," Jones said they "make me laugh no matter what the hell is going on. For real."
