It’s been a decade since Kinks founder Ray Davies released a new album of original songs, the underappreciated “Working Man’s Cafe.” He returns with “Americana” in April. Backed by the Jayhawks, this new Davies record does not, despite any rumors to the contrary, include contributions from his brother, Dave. (Sorry, folks, but a Kinks reunion appears as likely or as unlikely as it’s been since the band last performed in 1996.)

“Americana” does features Davies reflecting on his fascination with the country that he first encountered as a boy growing up in Muswell Hill and watching old Westerns. “Rock N Roll Cowboys” arrives midway through “Americana.” Here’s a sneak peek at the song.
