Today: Mostly cloudy with showers likely. 50s to near 60.

Unfortunately, the best of the weekend has definitely passed us by.  Those out early searching for eggs may stay dry for a time, but showers likely move in before long as an area of low pressure moves through. Tomorrow we warm up nicely for Opening Day, though a breezy cold front threatens a lingering shower or two before cooler and breezy conditions settle in for midweek.

Today (Sunday): A developing area of low pressure swings through for our Easter Sunday with light to moderate rain showers (80% chance) arriving mid-to-late morning. Nothing too heavy with generally a quarter-inch or a bit more expected, but you’ll want to bring along the umbrella. Cloudy skies and showers keep highs in the 50s, unless showers break up and skies brighten enough by mid-to-late afternoon to get us near 60.  Confidence: Medium

Tonight: Evening shower chances drop to around 30%. A partly cloudy and mostly tranquil overnight follows with lows in the 40s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): Today’s system steals much of the moisture from a cold front set to push through tomorrow. Still, there’s a 40% chance of a few passing showers, including around Nationals Park for Opening Day. Highs should reach the low-to-mid 60s despite partly to mostly cloudy skies. Breezy conditions emerge as we get into the afternoon, with winds from the west-northwest reaching 15-20 mph with higher gusts.  Confidence: Medium

Snow Potential Index

A daily assessment of the potential for *accumulating* snow for the next week on a 1-10 scale. More info

1 () Outside chance of a flake or two Monday night. This may be second-to-last SPI of the season.

Tomorrow night: Temperatures quickly plummet behind the cold front. Can’t even rule out an evening flurry or snow shower. Eventually clearing skies take hold and overnight lows dip into the 30s. Confidence: Medium-High

If this were February, Tuesday and Wednesday would seem like fairly nice days. But it’s April, and breezy days with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s just doesn’t cut it in my book, even with mostly sunny skies. Tuesday night is a chilly one as lows sink to the upper 20s to mid-30s. Confidence: Medium-High
