FORECAST IN DETAIL

Get ready for an explosion of life. Trees, grass and shrubs are already showing signs, but the next week should really kick it into high gear. Unbridled warmth is the story more often than not up ahead, certainly through early next week. First, we have a pleasantly cool day today. It should still be a perfectly pleasant one to get out and check out the beginning of the heart of the cherry blossom bloom, which is expected to enter peak in the coming days. If you’re not headed there, at least make sure you spend some quality time outdoors somewhere this weekend!!
Today (Saturday): We should see a good deal of sun, though a few clouds may move in especially during the afternoon as high pressure drifts to the east. After yesterday’s mild temperatures, slightly cooler air has trickled back in, so that means we should lag a bit behind, with highs in the mid-50s to near 60. Winds are pretty light though, so it’s quite enjoyable out there. Confidence: Medium-High
Tonight: Clouds may pass by here and there through the night. Despite the occasional blanket, we’ve still got another cool to chilly one ahead, with lows ranging from the upper 30s to low-and-mid 40s. Seasonable or a touch cooler really. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Sunday): Here we go! We see partly cloudy skies along with gustier breezes, but those breezes will be pumping in mild air from the south and southwest. Afternoon highs should head for the mid-60s to near 70 across the area. Spring’s takin’ hold. It’s possible we see a sprinkle by around sunset, but not much to worry about there. Confidence: Medium-High
Tomorrow night: A little area of precipitation may pass mainly to our north, but hard to rule out a shower or two (20-30% chance) through about midnight. Clouds are numerous throughout, and they help keep temperatures up in the upper 40s to lower 50s most spots. Confidence: Medium-High
A LOOK AHEAD
On Monday, warm air continues to surge into the area as high pressure off the east coast enhances our springlike feel. Plan on partly cloudy skies, a bit of a breeze from the south, and best yet: temperatures rising toward the mid-70s (note, these are times where a place like National Airport right on the water can end up with lower temps). There could be a late day sprinkle, but odds are quite low. Confidence: Medium
More of the same is on tap Tuesday. With increased moisture at all levels, we may be dealing with partly to mostly cloudy skies as a rule, but those warm winds keep funneling 70s into the area. Looks like one where we range from about 73-78. Ahhh, good stuff! Confidence: Medium
