Spring comes into its own this week serving up plenty of mild weather but also numerous opportunities for April showers. We have a good chance of some 80-degree days in the second half of the work week, but much cooler air charges in for the weekend behind a strong cold front.
Today (Monday): A weak wave of low pressure jogs into the region from the south (the same weather disturbance that brought showers in Augusta Sunday for the Masters) dishing out considerable clouds and areas of light rain, especially in the morning. This is not an all-day rain event, and the sun may peek out at times. But carry an umbrella and expect slightly cooler temperatures compared to the weekend, with highs in the mid-to-upper 60s. Winds are from the southeast at around 10-15 mph. Confidence: Medium
Tonight: Mostly cloudy with the possibility of some patchy fog late at night. It’s relatively mild, with lows mainly in the low-to-mid 50s. Winds are from the southeast around 5 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): We may awaken to some low clouds and fog, with gradual clearing by mid-to-late morning. Some sunshine is possible by afternoon, but a stalled out cold front to our north and northwest may act as a trigger for a few showers and storms, especially to the northwest. Assuming sunshine emerges in the afternoon, we should see highs reach the low 70s… But, if not, we could get stuck in the 60s. Confidence: Medium
Tomorrow night: We might see a shower/thundershower in the evening, then it’s partly cloudy and, once again, mild – with lows in the 50s. Confidence: Medium
A LOOK AHEAD
Warm weather is back Wednesday and Thursday, with winds from the south and temperatures well into the 70s (Wednesday) and perhaps reaching the 80s (best chance Thursday). A cold front not far to our north Wednesday could set off a few showers/thundershowers (30 percent chance). Rain chances are slightly lower Wednesday night and Thursday (20 percent chance) as said front retreats even farther north. Confidence: Medium
A strong cold front knocks on the door Friday, but we manage one more day of warm temperatures before it arrives at night. Highs Friday should flirt with 80, with just a 20 percent chance of daytime showers and storms. The front bursts through the region Friday night, with gusty showers and storms likely, and lows 45-50. Confidence: Medium
Cooler weather streams into the region for the weekend. On Saturday, some lingering showers are possible in the morning, before slow clearing and breezy highs near 60. Mostly clear and brisk Saturday night, with lows 38-45. Sunday is probably the pick of the weekend, but it’s cooler than this past weekend, with highs 60-65. Confidence: Medium
