Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the days weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

Sunshine, pleasant temperatures, low humidity, and a slight breeze. Doesn’t get much better!

Express Forecast

Today: Bountiful sunshine. Mid-to-upper 60s.

Tonight: Clear, calm, and starlit. Upper 30s to mid-40s.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny. Upper 60s to low 70s.

Sunday: Partly to mostly cloudy. Showers late? Mid-to-upper 60s.

With high pressure dominating overhead, today and tomorrow look to be just spectacular.  Expect mostly sunny skies and light winds making for a positively delightful start to the weekend.  Once the high pressure exits northeast on by Sunday and anchors off the northeast coast, however, we can expect cool and cloudy maritime weather.  I hesitate to use the term “wedge weather,” but that may very well be what we can expect late Saturday night through the start of next week.

Today (Friday): Could we ask for a more beautiful end to the week?  Today will be mostly sunny with pleasant temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60s area-wide.  Temperatures could be slightly cooler for areas adjacent to the bay or right on a river.  Eat lunch outside, walk or bike to work, crack open that window, and do whatever you can to enjoy the beautiful day!  (But make sure you have sunglasses and sunscreen handy!) Confidence: High

Tonight: The pleasant daytime weather should continue into the evening, but with crystal clear starlit skies the cool down happens fast.  If you have evening plans, pack an extra layer.  Overnight lows will be in the mid-40s for those areas in and around the District, but if you live in the outer suburbs that could dip into the upper 30s. Bring in your warm-weather-acclimated plant just in case?  Wind will be remarkably absent, which could increase the risk for spotty frozen dew or a light frost. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Saturday): Not much explanation needed for the phenomenal day ahead.  Mostly sunny skies light winds with temperatures reaching the upper-60s to low 70s.  The closer you are to downtown, the warmer it will be, and areas closer to the Bay could be a bit cooler.  The latter part of the day may see some clouds creeping closer from the southwest, but we should make it to sunset under mostly sunny skies.  Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Increasing clouds. Even though the clouds destroy our impressive cloudless-streak, they help keep overnight lows mild — mid-40s for the north and west suburbs and low 50s for downtown and the south and east suburbs. Confidence: Medium-High

Sunday: After the long streak of sunshine-filled days, Sunday could be a bit of a bummer.  Invasion-of-the-clouds has commenced by sunrise, and our chance for some spotty showers increases throughout the day.  Chance of precipitation will be higher for areas west at 40%, and lower closer to downtown at 10%-20%.  Still mild though, with highs in the mid-to-upper 60s. Confidence: Medium-High

Sunday night: The scattered showers continue through the evening and overnight, with temperatures holding steady in the upper 40s to low 50s. Confidence: Medium

Some spotty showers may still be lingering for the commute on Monday morning thanks to high pressure off the northeast coast promoting a cool maritime air mass.  Despite the spotty showers and mostly cloudy skies, temperatures should still reach the mid-to-upper 60s and may even reach or pass 70 in some spots.  It will be a “warm spring-shower” kind of day.  Monday night features thinning cloud cover and a decreasing chance of showers.  However, clouds will likely be slow to erode thanks to those maritime northeast winds. Mild: upper 40s to low 50s. Confidence: Low-Medium

Tuesday is partly to mostly cloudy with a slight (30%) chance of a passing shower. Upper 60s to low 70s should do it for highs. Confidence: Low-Medium
