Today (Friday): Bam. Spring reasserts itself. More clouds than sun, blustery winds also are a dominant factor from the northwest at 15-25 mph, gusting toward 30 mph at times. High temperatures should only make the 60s, perhaps low-to-mid during the day, maybe a few spots higher. South of town has the best chance. A shower or two can’t be ruled out (30-40% chance), especially in the afternoon. Take that summer! But, wait, are you all chilly? Confidence: Medium
Tonight: Periodic cloud cover is not the best, but worse than the clouds may be the 15-25 mph northwest wind, tapering a bit at night. If out late as temperatures bottom in the mid-to-upper 40s, please consider a light coat! Also, a small umbrella could be advisable, since a 10-20% chance of a shower means I shouldn’t rule it out. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Saturday): Good news is that the day is shaping up to be less gloomy than feared. We should have at least partial sunshine, with increasing sun likely by afternoon. Morning shower chances in the 15-25% range should generally stay isolated and not bother too many of us. Note even with high temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s, a 10-20 mph northwesterly wind may demand an extra layer if in the shade. Confidence: Low-Medium
Tomorrow night: Partially cloudy at times, but clouds should help keep our temperatures up into the 40s. If it weren’t for the cloud cover, a few spots could dip below 40 and we don’t want that in the face of, brrr, windchills?! Northwest winds could continue in the 10-20 mph range overnight. Eesh. Confidence: Low-Medium
Sunday: Many to most clouds move out to sea, leaving us with sunshine more often than not. Breezes could still be a bit gusty out of the northwest occasionally, but less than days prio. Temperatures top out around 70 to perhaps mid-70s possible south of town. Confidence: Low-Medium
A LOOK AHEAD
Sunday night: Skies should stay fairly-to-mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to their lows just before sunrise. Outside the Beltway, chillier mid-40s appear probable, with lower 50s possible downtown. Confidence: Low-Medium
For Memorial Day (Monday) we should have more sun than clouds and, really, the comfort level looks great with dew points staying below the 60 degree mark. That’s when mugginess begins to be palpable. Conditions should be fairly calm and most of us should be satisfactorily warm with high temperatures in the low-to-mid 70s . A few spots south of DC may see some upper 70s. Still, there is an outside chance to be the coolest Memorial Day here in 10 years, when DCA only reached 71 in 2003. Confidence: Low-Medium
Then, on Tuesday, I think we should continue our trend of fairly sunny skies with temperatures a bit warmer–sorry if you are back at work. Afternoon maximums in the upper 70s to around 80 appear likely, as well as the potential for just a bit more humidity. But I shy away from labeling it “muggy”…for now. Confidence: Low-Medium
Southern New Jersey Beaches are not looking ideal, with showers probable Friday and clouds likely to persist Saturday. North/northwesterly winds may be even stronger than the 15-25 mph range expected in D.C. High temperatures struggle in the low-to-mid 60s. Finally, Sunday, breezes and clouds abate a bit, with high temperatures near 70. Sunny and calmer with near 70 to lower 70s Monday. Water temperatures are chilly in the 62-69 range.
Delaware Beaches may only be a slight increment better than NJ beaches, with clouds and a few showers Friday, frequent clouds Saturday, and strong northerly breezes both days with highs in the mid-to-upper 60s. Sunday should be clearer but breezes are still brisk most of day and highs are in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Monday is sunny, calm and highs reach low-to-mid 70s. Water temperatures in the 63-70 range.
Virginia Beaches have warmest and sunniest chances of the weekend. Still, cloudy skies and windy conditions are expected on Friday with highs in the upper 60s. Improving on Saturday with partly cloudy and breezy with highs in the low-to-mid 70s. Sunday and Monday could make the mid-to-upper 70s under sunny calm conditions (maybe even 80). Variable, localized water temperatures but generally around the mid-60s to low 70s.
