PM Update: A fantastic first summer day Friday

Temperature Map

Temperatures:Latest D.C. area temperature map. See interactive map on our Weather Wall.

We officially ring in astronomical summer at 1:04 a.m. Friday but the character of the air will bear no resemblance to the gross, sultry soup Washingtonians are accustomed to. Instead, it will feel dry, fresh and delightful.  If only every day of the incoming summer season could be like its incipient day.

Through Tonight: Lingering cloud cover clears, humidity levels are low, and temperatures fit outdoor plans perfectly.  Daylight extends until 8:37 p.m. so take advantage! Overnight lows range from the mid-to-upper 50s in the cooler suburbs to the low 60s downtown.

Tomorrow (Friday): An ideal day.  Skies are mostly sunny, humidity levels are blissfully low, and temperatures are enjoyably warm for either a leisurely stroll or dip at the pool.  Highs reach the low 80s with a light breeze from the southeast at 5-10 mph.  One word of caution: UV levels will be very high at around a 9 midday, so wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

CWG guest-emceeing charity event, tonight at Black Cat in the District: From 7:30-10:30 p.m. tonight, several members of the Capital Weather Gang will guest emcee “Banding Together – Battle of the Law Firm Bands”.  This charity event raises funds to purchase essential clothing and winter items for the homeless.  The music is great and so is the cause, so stop on by.
