Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the days weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

You know the story by now… Hot and humid. There’s that late day storm threat as well.

Express Forecast

Today: Partly sunny, with showers and storms. Highs: Low-to-mid 90s.

Tonight: Evening storms? Mostly cloudy. Lows: Upper 60s to low 70s.

Tomorrow: Partly sunny. Afternoon showers and storms. Highs: Near 90 to mid-90s.

Hope you’re a fan of the off and on thunderstorm threats, as we’ve got plenty of those ahead in coming days. With that comes the continued mugginess. If we get lucky, a front might help push those humidity levels down a bit at some point, but it probably won’t get far enough to leave us anywhere close to dry. Oh yeah, happy heat wave (assuming we get to 90+ today)!

Today (Wednesday): Some clouds may be around in the morning from overnight showers and storms occurring mainly off to the northwest. It’s possible (30% chance) some of that activity is around our area early. Sunshine eventually prevails for much of the midday as highs head for the low-to-mid 90s. Thunderstorm odds are up again by mid-to-late afternoon (50%-60% chance), and some could be strong to isolated severe. Southwest winds blow around 5-10 mph. Confidence: Medium

Tonight: If showers and storms last into the evening, they’ll wind down as we get into the night. Skies aren’t in a rush to clear though, remaining mostly cloudy on the whole. In our soupy air mass, don’t plan on lows getting much below the upper 60s to low 70s.  There could be a few spots of fog. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Thursday): We start off partly cloudy and muggy. A more vigorous mid-level wave should pass during the afternoon, helping energize a surface low in Pennsylvania. This combination is usually pretty decent for a more organized severe weather risk around here. Timing, as usual, will make a difference one way or another, but showers and storms are likely (60% chance). Before the storm threat, highs reach near 90 to the mid-90s. Winds are from the south or southwest around 10 mph with higher gusts. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Showers and storms wane as we get past dark if not prior. After that, it’s partly to mostly cloudy with perhaps some spots of fog. Lows reach the upper 60s and lower 70s. Confidence: Medium

On Friday, we’ve got partly cloudy skies, and the day might feature a bit of a break in the pattern, depending on how far the front gets. We’ll still run a risk of showers and storms though, let’s say about 40% for now. If the front does not push through, another day of severe weather risk might be on tap as stronger winds move in aloft. Highs head for the upper 80s to near 90. Confidence: Low-Medium

The weekend appears unsettled, but it doesn’t look like a washout. The location of the front will remain important as it should want to be a focus of the most rain, which primarily falls during the heating of the day. Current indications are that the front wants to hang out near the coast, but it’s too far off to be sure. Both days run a 50% chance of showers and storms, as highs reach the upper 80s to near 90. Confidence: Low
