Highs near 80 with a good deal of sun in early August? Not sure what we did to deserve this, but let’s figure it out and keep on doing it. Our nice weather is about to go on hiatus, but thankfully it’s just a preview of what’s ahead as we get further from the heart of summer. In the meantime, get those umbrellas back out if you put them away.

Through Tonight: Skies remain partly cloudy through the evening. We might even see a decrease in clouds for a while as puffy daytime stuff tries to wane. Nonetheless, clouds eventually thicken and lower through the overnight. Despite increased cloudiness, we should make it through a good part of the night dry. Rain might be arriving just in time for the a.m. commute. Lows are in the low-to-mid 60s most spots.

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Scattered showers and perhaps some rumbles are likely at times (60% chance) during the day. It shouldn’t be an all day rain, or too intense in most spots, but might keep things rather damp. Depending on how cloudy and rainy it is vs. any peeks of sun, high temperatures should reach the mid-70s to low 80s. Winds are light from the south.

Threatened wildlife: Among other species, climate change may take the Iberian Lynx. Only 250 of these wild felines are known to remain. Part of their survival problem stems from warming temperatures shifting food — namely the European rabbit — into different regions. Conservationists have suggested trying to relocate the lynx to higher elevations where they believe the rabbits will be less impacted by warming.

Pollen update: Tree and grass pollen is low, the weed count is low/moderate, and mold spores are running moderate/high.
