We just can’t kick out the chance for a few showers today as a front to the south hangs in there tough enough to cause concern.  Alternating periods of sun and clouds could be interspersed with those showers this afternoon and into Monday, but it’s dry more often than not.  By Tuesday, this air mass gets a kick in the pants but it throws one more rainy day our way before cooler and drier conditions return.

Today (Sunday): The stalled out front to our south provides enough lift to keep a decent (40%) chance for some afternoon showers and thunderstorms.  And, once again, the main focus seems to be just south of the area.  Otherwise, it’s a mostly cloudy day with just a few peeks of sun here and there, and highs in the mid 80s.  Winds should be light, around 5 mph, and from a general southerly direction. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Can’t completely rule out the chance for showers (20%) after dark but they’re likely fewer and far between if any are around.  A broken cloud deck and partly-to-mostly cloudy skies doesn’t provide the best viewing for the Perseids, but some areas might get lucky a bit west.  By morning, a weak wave of low pressure may be enough to bring some fog or drizzle as well with light northeasterly winds.  Overnight lows are in the low-to-mid 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

When do we get back to the mild and dry weather? Keep reading for the forecast through the midweek…

Tomorrow (Monday): That washed out front isn’t going anywhere in a hurry and again provides a focus for some afternoon showers and storms (30%, higher south and west).  But, it looks like a slightly better day overall with partly sunny/mostly cloudy skies outside of the few showers, with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: A few showers are again possible overnight, and a decent chunk of atmospheric energy move through the Great Lakes overnight which by dawn could bump up our rain chances again (50%).  The majority of the night is just mostly cloudy though, with a low in the low-to-mid 70s. Confidence: Medium

On Tuesday, a re-enforcing cold front moves into the area. That means it looks pretty gray right now, with periods of showers and thunderstorms as the system moves through.  Highs in the 80s are expected with variations depending on the clouds and rain.  A few showers straggle overnight but should be clearing out by morning, with overnight lows in the low 70s. Confidence: Medium

Another area of Canadian high pressure takes over on Wednesday, leading to a promising second half of the week.  After a few stray morning showers, skies clear to become mostly sunny, and a northwesterly breeze ushers in some refreshingly lower dew points.  With highs right around 80, we’re heading into another stretch of comfy conditions. Confidence: Medium
