Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the days weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

Don’t come better than this for sheer enjoyment of the outdoors: mild temps, low humidity, gentle breezes. Wow, just wow.

Express Forecast

Today: Bright blue skies, low humidity. Highs: 77-81.

Tonight: Clear, dry, light breezes. Lows: 55-61.

Tomorrow: Some increase in PM clouds. Highs: 79-83.

Someone call 911, mid-August weather has been kidnapped; may have been a Canadian heist. Hard to complain about today’s picture perfect weather, but could we please save some of this for the weekend? At least around town, we’ll have to contend with lots of clouds and a chance of showers. And for those of you headed to the beaches, sorry, the clouds and showers really want to hug the coast.

Today (Thursday): For early risers the word brisk should come to mind. However, that initial chill is quickly gone thanks to an unchallenged sun and nearly calm breezes. The sky should be a deep shade of blue today as humidity is down to a level we can all agree is comfortable. Highs reach the upper 70s to lower 80s. Confidence: High

Tonight: The half a moon and a full retinue of stars are on display for any out and about and who wouldn’t be? Evening readings in the 70s are a treat with only light winds from the south. The overnight readings cool down very effectively with lows in the mid-50s to lower 60s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Friday): Clouds may increase in the afternoon and we add some warmth and a smidgen of humidity. But it is still a darling of a day at least through the lunch hour and perhaps through the afternoon. Highs reach the upper 70s in a few spots but lower 80s are more dominant. The breeze from the southeast remains light. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: The evening could go either way: some models are advertising cloudy skies and even some light rain, while others keep us safely dry encouraging more outdoor time. Clouds thicken through the night with rain chances increasing from 20% in the evening to 40% after midnight. Lows range from upper 50s outer burbs to mid-60s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

Saturday could still end up being a pretty nice day but there is a swath of moisture coming up from the south that is determined to push moisture back into our area. That at least means more humidity and a lot more clouds. As for showers, I would give it about a 30% chance, which for my money means you have a better chance of staying dry than not. I would certainly not cancel outdoor plans at this point. Highs hold in the upper 70s to lower 80s which is nice. Evening shower potential persists and overnight lows reach the low-to-mid 60s. Confidence: Medium

Sunday is unlikely to shake the clouds and there is still a decent chance for some showers to scatter into the area upping the chances to 40%. Highs again hold in the upper 70s to lower 80s which is hard to beat, although humidity levels are becoming moderate. Overnight lows hold in the mid-to-upper 60s. Confidence: Low-Medium

Monday starts the transition back to more typical summer weather with climbing humidity and temperatures. Most areas should be back to mid-80s at least. Rain chances are 20%. Confidence: Low-Medium
