Clouds crept in this afternoon but temperatures and humidity levels remained delightful. Over the weekend, temperatures hold steady, but humidity rises, and, with that, a chance of rain returns, but not until Saturday night and Sunday.  Saturday’s shaping up to be a decent day.

Through Tonight: Mostly cloudy and pleasant.  It’s not as crisp as the past two nights, but still cooler than average.  Lows range from the upper 50s in the cooler suburbs to the low-to-mid 60s downtown.  Light winds.

Tomorrow (Saturday): It once appeared moisture would sneak into the area bringing a chance of showers, but it looks like high pressure to the north keeps the rain well south of the region during the day.  Expect considerable cloudiness, but the possibility of at least partial sunshine at times (especially in the northern suburbs) with highs 77-80. Humidity levels are still fairly low (dew points in the 50s) with a light breeze from the east at 5-10 mph.

Saturday night and Sunday:  Moisture slowly increases in the region, with a 50 percent chance of rain showers developing south to north, mainly after midnight.  There’s considerable uncertainty about the timing, coverage, and intensity of any rain…but the most likely opportunity is from very late Saturday night (pre-dawn) through midday Sunday.  A washout is unlikely, and there are even chances it’s just cloudy, with little to no rain.  Clouds dominate this stretch, with Sunday morning’s lows in the 60s, and Sunday’s highs in the mid-70s.

Atlanta’s coolest August day on record: The high in Atlanta today was just 67 degrees due to a cool airmass and blanket of clouds. That was lowest high temperature there on record in August, shattering the previous record low maximum of 70 from 1892.
