Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the days weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

What a difference a day makes. Showery, cloudy, cool.  Not my ideal Sunday.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but as terrific as yesterday turned out, there’s not much hope for that today.  A wave of low pressure off the East Coast means we’re in for a fairly wet one to close out the weekend.  And, I can’t even tease a return of the fantastic conditions we’ve seen lately either as once the system pulls away, more typical summertime weather moves back in.  It’s not so bad though, with dew points on the lower side of what they could be, and temps topping out “only” in the low 90s.

Today (Sunday): A wave of low pressure off the Delmarva paints a damp picture for our Sunday.  Northeast winds, periods of showers or rain, drizzle, and lots of cloud cover are what we can expect for most of the day.  The rain is likely steadiest during the earlier portion of the day, showers should become less numerous or end in the afternoon.  With all the damp and gray, don’t expect temperatures to get any higher than the low, maybe mid, 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: We get a brief break in the action during the evening and nighttime, but another little impulse may (40% chance) spread some more showers into the area during the pre-dawn hours.  Don’t expect these to be as widespread though, and generally on the lighter side.   Skies continue to be mainly overcast and nighttime lows should run generally 60-65.  Winds shift around to the southeast, but are very light. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Monday): Southerly winds start to pump summer back in as we start the work week.   However, with skies still staying on the cloudy side, and the chance (50%) for some periodic showers and/or a thunderstorm (especially south and west), we’re not talking heat wave just yet.  Look for highs right around 80 degrees, up to the mid-80s if we can clear the skies just a little bit. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Weak high pressure finally tries to disperse some of the cloud cover and our winds briefly turn around to the north.  There’s still a stray shower or two around, but for most, skies turn partly cloudy. Overnight lows are in the 60s. Confidence: Medium-High

By Tuesday we start to get some Vitamin D again, as well as the August weather we’re more used to around here.  As we break into partly-to-mostly sunny skies, heat returns and we head for highs in the upper 80s, to possibly 90.  A couple of pop-up showers may be around (20% chance), but more likely contained to the higher elevations to the west.  Overnight matches the summery feel, with partly cloudy skies and lows in the upper 60s and low 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

Wednesday and the second half of the week features more of the same. That’s partly-to-mostly sunny skies and temperatures heading into the upper 80s/lower 90s. Confidence: Medium-High
