Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the days weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

So I lopped off a point for our brisk morning, but today should be nothing else but nice.

Express Forecast

Today: Mostly sunny. Highs: 68-72.

Tonight: Mostly clear and cool. Lows: 44-52.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny. Highs: 70-74.

The Nice Day train has arrived and it’s not the express as it sticks around through at least Thursday.  Temperatures slowly chug a bit warmer, but most of the time we manage pleasant 70s with low humidity for afternoon highs.  The weather starts to derail a bit Friday into the weekend as a cool front approaches.  Temperatures warm into the low 80s briefly with slightly higher humidity and shower chances especially by Saturday. But it looks like we get another arrival of excellent weather beyond that next cold front.

nice day
Today (Tuesday):  A massive high pressure is dropping down from the Great Lakes this morning.  This cool morning may require some of us to find our light jackets, but today achieves Nice Day status as highs only manage the upper 60s to low 70s under mostly sunny skies and light winds (5-10 mph from the north).   Confidence: High

Tonight: Very light breezes and mostly clear skies open the door for some of the coolest readings we have seen so far this early meteorological autumn as lows dip to the low to middle 40s in the outer suburbs to the low 50s right in the city.  Confidence: High

nice day
Tomorrow (Wednesday):  Sunny skies, slightly warmer temperatures (low to mid 70s), and light breezes (from the easterly direction at about 5 mph) make for yet another Nice Day achievement.  Our Nice Day sun is certainly getting a workout in recent weeks!   Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Mostly clear, pleasant, and not quite as cool as lows dip into the 50s throughout most of the area.  Winds are light again.  Confidence: High

nice day
Thursday wants to be a Nice Day too, and I believe it will get its wish as we expect highs in the middle to upper 70s with continued relatively low humidity levels and mostly sunny skies.  Thursday night may see a few more clouds sneak in overhead with lows dipping to the slightly warmer upper 50s to low 60s.  Confidence: High

Friday finds partly cloudy skies and a slight chance of showers (20%) that could be a bit higher out toward the mountains.  Highs reach into the low 80s with slightly more humidity, but still generally pleasant overall.  Friday night is partly cloudy with lows in the 60s. Confidence: Medium

The weekend has a different flavor than last weekend as we are timing a cold front to come through at some point on Saturday (from around midday to maybe evening) with showers and possible thunderstorms just ahead of it. How much rain we get is still a tough one, but it does not appear to be enough to wash out our September deficit yet.

Highs should range in the upper 70s to low 80s with more clouds on Saturday, but Sunday may clear by the afternoon with perhaps more sunshine sneaking back into play.  Saturday night is partly cloudy with lows in the 60s and a continued chance of showers, especially toward evening.

I have to keep forecast confidence for the weekend on the lower side currently as the guidance is mixed on the cold front passage details and there is even a risk it could hang around into Sunday with a few more showers.    Confidence: Low-Medium
