D.C. area forecast: September to end in style — nice weather through the weekend

Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the days weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

We may start getting complacent with all this great weather, but a 10 is still a 10!

Express Forecast

Today: Mostly sunny. Highs: 75-79.

Tonight: A few clouds. Lows: 48-56.

Tomorrow: Partly sunny. Highs: 75-79.

High pressure to our north has dropped its anchor for an extended stay, helping to lock in this pleasant pattern through the weekend. Some slight onshore flow may whip up a few clouds early this morning and again on Friday, but comfortable temperatures and low humidity keep this early autumn weather feeling great.  A cold front approaches the area early next week, but it seems to lose its punch and may not deliver much in the way of shower chances before the month of September closes.

nice day
Today (Thursday): Some morning clouds around the area like yesterday, but then mostly sunny skies rule again with highs in the middle to upper 70s.  Humidity is pleasant with dew points in the low 50s.  Light winds mainly from the east. Confidence: High

Tonight: A few clouds possible as temperatures drop back into the cool comfortable 50s in most areas, but some upper 40s in the outer suburbs.  Light breezes from the east and southeast. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Friday):  Partly sunny skies expected with highs again in the middle to upper 70s.  There may be just enough scattered cloud cover to prevent Nice Day status, but given the temperature range and relatively low humidity, we can’t complain and can at least call it Nearly Nice Day.  Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night:  A few clouds with lows again in the 50s in most areas, but a few spots in the outer ‘burbs could dip again into the upper 40s with light winds.  Confidence: Medium-High

Saturday and Sunday comprise an excellent autumn weekend situation with highs again in the middle to upper 70s (a few spots may touch 80) with comfortable humidity levels and more mostly sunny skies.  Lows Saturday and Sunday night are mainly in the 50s.  Confidence: Medium-High

Monday marks the arrival of a cold front from the west, but it seems like it may be moisture-starved.  There is a 20% chance of afternoon showers with partly cloudy skies, but it seems like highs are only in the 70s yet again.  Confidence: Medium
