Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the days weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

A satisfying start to a new month!

Express Forecast

Today: Some AM clouds, then partly to mostly sunny. Highs: 78-82.

Tonight: A few clouds.  Lows: 55-63.

Tomorrow: Sunny. Highs: 84-87.

While we flip our calendars over to October today, the local climate has decided it wants to rewind to early September instead. Temperatures advance back into the low to middle 80s several times this week and into the weekend too.  The good news is that we are not seeing any major upticks in humidity, so that I can get away with saying “pleasantly warm” for this time of year.

The delay of a weekend cold front is not good news for the desperate rain dancers out there, but it looks like that cold front could still deliver a two-day rain event early next week at least.

nice day
Today (Tuesday):  We’re setting up the story for warmer weather over the next number of days with 80s back in the picture. But fear not, as humidity stays low and unobtrusive. Some mixed cloud cover at times this morning, but I believe we get enough sun to earn Nice Day status here as the temperatures reach the upper 70s to low 80s around the area.  Light winds shift to come from the west at 5 to 10 mph by the afternoon.  Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight:  A few clouds are around, but we still cool off to comfortable levels from the middle 50s in the outer suburbs to the low to middle 60s in the city.  Light winds again come from a westerly direction. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): This may end up being the warmest day of the week with mostly sunny skies, low humidity, and temperatures drifting up into the middle 80s around the area.  Humidity remains relatively low (we’re still working that California theme here!), so we aren’t dealing with much of a heat index.  Some spots may edge up to 86-87, which is just a touch too warm for Nice Day status.  Light winds from the west at 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy and still cooling down to the upper 50s to middle 60s across the area.  Light winds from the west yet again. Confidence: Medium-High

nice day
Thursday and Friday are similar days with highs in the lower 80s usually with relatively low humidity, and light breezes from the west under mostly sunny skies.  These will probably fall into the Nice Day range based on these characteristics, but there may be a chance for a few more clouds around on Friday afternoon. Thursday and Friday nights are still pleasant with lows in the upper 50s to middle 60s with just a few clouds around.  Confidence: Medium

The weekend is trending a bit drier as the cold front arriving from the Midwest decides to slow down a bit more.  We still manage a 20% chance of showers later Saturday with a 30% Saturday night with a 30% chance of more showers Sunday under generally partly cloudy skies. Temperatures are still warm with low 80s both days and lows Saturday night near the 60-65 range.  The guidance is mixed on timing, but better chances for rain arrive either Sunday night or into Monday as the cold front finally approaches.  Confidence: Medium
