D.C. area forecast: Passing showers late today, tomorrow is back to perfect

Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the days weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

Temperatures are a full-fledged 10, but clouds and late day sprinkles take it down a few pegs.

Express Forecast

Today: Mainly cloudy, sprinkles/showers possible late afternoon. Highs: 71-75.

Tonight: Showers possible until midnight. Lows: 50-54.

Tomorrow: Sun returns, breezy. Highs: 68-72.

Let me say from the start there will be no repeat of last week. Showers this afternoon and/or evening are just the pavement wetting variety and tomorrow promises to be a very nice day. The weekend is a winner too with mild if slightly cooler readings. Any weekend showers are considerate enough to be light and come mostly Saturday evening. I like polite weather! Overnight readings in the 40s become more commonplace by the weekend, so dig out those jackets.

Today (Thursday): There could be a few glimpses of sunshine in the morning but by midday clouds should dominate. Very light winds out of the south with highs in the low-to-mid 70s make for a fine day. Showers (40% chance) are mostly light and late, but could still be a nuisance for the evening commute. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: There is a 60% chance of showers in the evening but the rain gauges should not get a work out with little more than a tenth of an inch likely. Light winds from the south shift to northwest around midnight signaling the end of rain and clearing to follow. Lows hold in the low-to-mid 50s. Confidence: Medium-High

nice day
Tomorrow (Friday): A few clouds could linger at sunrise but the northwest breeze will sweep them away as dry air pushes in. With all the sunshine, highs should still reach the upper 60s to lower 70s. I have got to find something to do outside! Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: The drier air is courtesy of cool high pressure building in and readings will drop off quickly after sunset to the upper 50s to lower 60s. Overnight lows slip to the mid-to upper 40s burbs but hang near 50 downtown. Confidence: High

Saturday should still get a seal of approval from most of us with morning sun only slowly slipping behind clouds later in the afternoon. Highs likely to reach mid-to-upper 60s should feel good with only light winds. Showers are a possibility (40 percent chance), by evening. Once again, amounts should be minor (less than a quarter inch). Lows slip to the mid-to-upper 40s. Confidence: Medium

Sunday skies should clear early and sun is likely to be the rule by midday, just in time for the Redskin game. The sun struggles a bit in warming things up but who can complain about low-to-mid 60s? Look for an even cooler night under star-filled skies. Lows reach the 40s throughout the land. Confidence: Medium

Monday may start out with a chill but warms nicely with most areas likely to reach the mid-60s as a bright sun does its duty. Confidence: Medium
