The Washington Post

This storm is unofficially called Snochi

Yesterday, readers voted 60/40 against naming this storm, perhaps out of fear the storm would be a bust. Or, perhaps, because some have become sick and tired of The Weather Channel’s storm names.

snochi

Despite the majority’s will for the storm not to be named, the storm has proven to be an overachiever in a number of areas. Furthermore, a popular name has emerged in our social media feeds – in honor of the coinciding Olympic games: Snochi. As such, it is named.

(With all due respect to The Weather Channel’s name for the storm, Pax – at least this name has some relevance)

I also liked this suggestion: Winter Storm Snowden.
