An infuriating long-range forecast

Old Man Winter is just piling it on now.

Here’s the 6-10 day temperature outlook from the National Weather Service:


6-10 day temperature outlook for March 22-26 (NOAA).

Translation: A high probability it will remain colder than normal from the Great Lakes to the Mid-Atlantic running up towards the end of March.

Here’s a temperature outlook from the European model for this same approximate time period (March 23-27):

That’s a forecast for temperatures to average 5-10 degrees below normal.  Cherry blossoms might peak by Memorial Day at this rate.

Of course, just to mess with us, there will surely be a 60+ degree day or two thrown into the mix only to be followed a crash in temperature and some other miserable late winter-early spring cold weather milestone.
