D.C. area forecast: Several shots at 70 coming up

Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

Some sun, 60s, and a cool-ish breeze as we wait one more day to sniff highs near 70.

Express Forecast

Today: Partly sunny, a bit breezy. Highs: Low-to-mid 60s.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Lows: Mid-30s to mid-40s.

Tomorrow: Partly to mostly sunny. Highs: Near 70.

We haven’t hit 70 degrees in D.C. since March 22. After one more day in the 60s today, though, we’ll try to make up for lost time with a shot at 70 each day Thursday through Sunday. Our best chance of rain comes Friday evening through Saturday morning. But Saturday afternoon through much of Sunday should be quite nice.

Today (Wednesday): Today shapes up similar to yesterday, perhaps a touch cooler but not quite as windy. Skies should be partly sunny as morning temperatures rise into the 50s and afternoon highs hit the low-to-mid 60s, still with a noticeable breeze. Winds come from the northwest around 10-20 mph with gusts near 25 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Nice night coming up even if a bit cool. Evening readings drop through the 50s as winds diminish. Overnight, winds become light or calm and lows bottom in the mid-30s to mid-40s (suburbs to city) under mostly clear skies. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Now this is one of those days we’ve all been waiting for. Partly to mostly sunny skies and a breeze from the south-southwest near 10-15 mph help push afternoon highs to near 70. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Skies turn partly to mostly cloudy but we should stay dry through the evening, with a 20% chance of a shower overnight. Lows range from near 50 to the mid-50s. Confidence: Medium-High

Much of Friday should be fine with partly sunny skies, though can’t rule out a passing shower or two. A mild flow from the south should warm highs to the upper 60s to mid-70s. Shower chances increase Friday evening and overnight with mild lows in the 50s. Confidence: Low-Medium

Showers may linger into or through Saturday morning (40% chance), possibly followed by partial afternoon sun with highs aiming for the mid-60s to low 70s. After an uneventful Saturday night with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s, Sunday is at least partly sunny with highs near 70 to the mid-70s and maybe a shower late. Confidence: Medium
