Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

Wind spoils an otherwise fine, sunny day. Wouldn’t mind a few degrees warmer, either.

Express Forecast

Today: Mostly sunny, quite breezy. 60-65.

Tonight: Clear, and chilly. Lows: 36-44.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny, delightful. 66-71.

Some of us may find today disagreeably chilly thanks to the stiff breeze from the northwest. But milder, more tranquil weather is right around the corner. Temperatures get a bump upward Thursday and again Friday, as winds slowly settle.  Although Friday may be dampened by some afternoon showers, the weekend is trending drier.  Saturday, in particular, looks terrific, with sunny 70s possible.  Sunday is probably a notch cooler, but the rain threat has diminished some.

Today (Wednesday): It’s chilly when you get up and head out. The combination of wind and temperatures in the 40s creates a wind chill as lows as the 30s.  Grab a jacket. By the afternoon hours, temperatures recover, reaching the low 60s in most spots.  But with the wind from the northwest at 10 to 20, gusting over 30 mph, it’s a nuisance. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: The wind lessens some overnight but not entirely.  It’s brisk out there with lows in the mid-to-upper 30s in some our colder suburbs to the low-to-mid 40s downtown.  Winds at 10-15 mph, gusting over 20 mph in the evening, drop to closer to 5-10 mph overnight. Confidence: Medium-High

nice day
Tomorrow (Thursday): Weak high pressure over the area makes for a fantastic day. Breezes relax some (down to around 10 mph) as highs close in on 70 in many spots.  This day, along with Saturday, are the picks of the week for great weather. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: High clouds stream in overnight, acting like a blanket that helps retain some of the daytime’s modest heating.  Lows only drop to near 45 in our cooler suburbs to near 50 downtown.  Winds are light. Confidence: Medium-High

A weak cold front punches through the region during the day Friday.  It’s partly sunny and mild before the front arrives, with temperatures climbing as high as 70-75 in the afternoon.  But a line of showers may approach (40-50 percent chance), especially between mid-afternoon and early evening. Any rain exits by Friday night, when lows range from the mid-40s in our cooler suburbs to the low 50s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

The forecast for the weekend, which was very  uncertain and seemed unsettled, has shifted in a more positive direction.  Now it appears as if the balance of the weekend is dry, with highs Saturday 70-75 and, 60-65 Sunday following the passage of a cool front.  Saturday night  may turn a tad breezy, with lows from the mid-40s in our cooler suburbs to the low 50s downtown. Confidence: Medium
