Maybe because twisters are somewhat infrequent in Italy, some people can’t help but watch when they strike – rather than do the smart thing and take cover (in an interior room at the lowest level of the building, away from windows).

 

In the above video (hat tip Dennis Mersereau, Gawker), an office worker is glued to his window – operating his recording device – as an intense tornado is hurling debris just steps away. Eventually, he scrambles for shelter under a desk and the scene goes black.

The footage is from Wednesday in Nonantola, Italy (in the northern part of the country). It is eerily similar to another tornado video shot from an office building in late July near Milan, which I posted about.  Here it is, again:

Methinks some tornado safety drills are in order for Italian office workers….
