Timing is everything and the weather seems to be operating on a respectable schedule currently.  As we say goodbye to a beautiful holiday weekend, we say hello to an abbreviated yet irritating work week with shower and storm potential daily.  But outside of a little humidity today into tomorrow, we are at least still not seeing any significant heat as meteorological summer nears.   The upcoming weekend looks nice again with pleasant near to below normal temperatures.  Our nice weekends are arriving like clockwork, so let’s hope we stay on this schedule!

Today (Tuesday): The morning features some sunshine to ease our route back into work with temperatures in the 70s and humid dew points in the 60s.  Cloudy skies midday through afternoon set the stage for scattered showers and storms (60% likelihood).  Precipitation totals range from .1″ to .2″ around the area with locally heavier amounts possible in downpours associated with thunderstorms.  Winds from the west generally at 10-15 mph.  Confidence: Medium

Tonight: Showers and storms scattered about this evening with again a 60% likelihood that you’ll see activity before only widely scattered shower and storm chances overnight.  Look for the potential for another .1″ to .2″ of water with locally higher amounts.  Cloudy skies and muggy dew points in the low 60s only allows lows to dip into the middle to upper 60s overnight.  Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Mostly cloudy with showers and storm chances again around 60% and most likely toward midday and afternoon.  Temperatures should not get as warm with highs mainly in the middle to upper 70s, but dew points continue in the lower 60s, offering somewhat of a muggy feel.  Precipitation totals again range from about .1″ to .25″ with some locally higher amounts possible.  Light winds around 5 mph from the west.  Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night:  Showers remain scattered about through the evening hours.  A backdoor cool front reaches our region in the evening, shifting winds to come lightly from the east and northeast along with starting a noticeable decline in temperatures.  Lows dip to about 60F by morning with dew points dropping down into the 50s under partly cloudy to cloudy skies.  Confidence: Medium

Thursday is our coolest day of the week as mostly cloudy skies and sea breezes from the east and northeast hold highs down to only around 70F.  Some spots may even stay below 70, which is impressive given the normal temperature is about 80F now.  Showers and even drizzle provide some off and on precipitation to the area too.  Thursday night keeps us in the same air mass with partly to mostly cloudy skies, a chance of light showers or drizzle, and lows dipping into the cooler middle to upper 50s.  Confidence: Medium

Friday still looks to be on the cooler-than-normal side with highs in the lower to middle 70s accompanied by partly to mostly cloudy skies and a slight risk of a few showers especially toward the morning.  Friday night looks partly cloudy with lows dipping again into the 50s.  Confidence: Medium

The weekend features high pressure overhead that provides mostly sunny skies with near to slightly below normal temperatures.  Highs range in the 70s to around 80 with lows in the cool 50s for the most part.  And Sunday is June 1, the start of meteorological summer with still no signs of any major heat waves lurking.  Confidence: Medium-High
