Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

Maybe a couple degrees cooler than Saturday in some spots, but still well within the awesome zone!

Express Forecast

Today: Lots of sun and pleasant. Highs: Mid-70s to near 80.

Tonight: Clear and comfy. Lows: 54-60.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny early, then increasing clouds. Highs: Low-to-mid 80s.

The calendar may say we’ve begun meteorological summer, but we’re going to manage at least one more day of sublime spring weather while we can.  One more sunny, spectacular day closes out our weekend before things start to change. Summer can’t be held at bay forever, and we’ll certainly feel it by Tuesday and Wednesday, when we’re looking at some typical mid-Atlantic heat, humidity, and risks for afternoon showers and storms.

Today (Sunday): Another sparkling weekend concludes with another day of weather bliss. Humidity remains a non-factor and skies stay mostly sunny as winds come from the south-southeast at 5-10 mph. Temperatures fall slightly short of yesterday in some spots, with most places probably topping out in the mid-to-upper 70s, though near 80 is not out of reach. Confidence: High

Tonight: Nothing to complain about here, either!  Skies remain mostly clear and winds blow lightly from the south. It’s another comfortable evening with temperatures dropping toward and into the 60s. Overnight lows dip to the mid-50s for most, maybe closer to 60 downtown. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): Tomorrow serves as a stepping stone toward more summer-like weather. With high pressure moving offshore, mostly sunny skies through morning see increasing clouds during the afternoon. Temperatures top out in the low-to-mid 80s as winds come from the south near 10 mph. Humidity creeps higher, but should stay down in the barely noticeable range. Those out west in the mountains may need to watch radar for a shower or thunderstorm, but here in the metro area we should stay dry. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: The turn toward summer continues with partly to mostly cloudy conditions and possibly some spotty fog and/or mist. Lows stay on the mild side, only getting down to the mid-to-upper 60s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tuesday really should feel like June when you step outside. Mostly to partly sunny skies jump highs to the upper 80s to near 90 with moderate humidity, before midday clouds build in the heat and instability.  Some of those clouds could be of the cumulonimbus variety, and we’re looking at a 50% chance for showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening.  A few showers may linger overnight, otherwise it’s mostly cloudy and warm with lows in the upper 60s to near 70. Confidence: Medium

The heat holds on for Wednesday too. Skies should be at least partly sunny, which combined with warm winds from the west help highs back to near 90. Humidity hangs around as well, but at least this is likely the peak of this week’s heat. A weak stalled front may be enough to touch off a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms (30% chance).  Confidence: Medium
