Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

We lose a couple points off yesterday thanks to rising humidity and a late-afternoon thundershower chance.

Express Forecast

Today: Partly to mostly sunny a.m. Increasing p.m. clouds with 30-40% chance of t’shower. Highs: Mid-80s.

Tonight: 60% chance of showers and storms. Lows: Mid-to-upper 60s.

Tomorrow: Partly to mostly cloudy. 40% chance of p.m. showers and storms. Highs: Upper 70s to mid-80s.

Yesterday was simply delightful, wasn’t it? Today isn’t bad either, though it starts to feel a bit more like summer as humidity levels creep higher. A shower or thundershower can’t be ruled out late this afternoon, with an even better chance of showers and storms this evening and overnight. The mild, dry days become more and more scarce as we move into the work week, which features warm and humid weather along with a daily chance for storms.

Today (Sunday): The day starts with more of the same, as partly to mostly sunny skies help temperatures toward afternoon highs in the mid-80s. But as we move into the midday and afternoon, you’ll begin to notice a turn to the more humid side, thanks to winds from the south near 10 mph. Clouds probably increase at some point during the afternoon ahead of a wave of low pressure, and we’ll keep an eye for a 30-40% chance of a late-afternoon shower or thundershower. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: More numerous showers and thunderstorms may develop during the evening into the overnight as that wave of low pressure passes nearby or to our north. Generally speaking we have a 60% chance of showers and storms and it’s fairly muggy to boot, with lows in the mid-to-upper 60s. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Monday): The remnants of the washed-out low likely keep skies partly to mostly cloudy through much of the day. But a few breaks of sun should be enough to warm highs to the upper 70s to mid-80s with high humidity. They may also help spark a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms (40% chance). Winds are generally light, near 5-10 mph from the south-southwest. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: A few showers and thunderstorms may linger during the evening into the overnight. We’re looking at even muggier conditions with sweaty lows in the mid-60s to near 70 under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Confidence: Medium

Skies try to brighten a bit on Tuesday as we find ourselves between low pressure in the Midwest and high pressure well offshore. The resulting light winds from the south continue to send the warmth our way as highs rise into the 80s with partly sunny skies. A few more showers and thunderstorms could develop in the warm and humid air during the afternoon (30% chance) into Tuesday night (40% chance). We’ll remain muggy overnight with lows again in the mid-60s to near 70. Confidence: Low-Medium

Mostly cloudy conditions return on Wednesday with a stalled front draped nearby. That front increases our chances for daytime showers and storms to 50%. Temperatures top out in the 80s once again despite the clouds, and with more of that mid-summer-like humidity. Confidence: Medium
