Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

Low humidity, very pleasant temperatures, and lots of sun should easily offset a sometimes gusty breeze.

Express Forecast

Today: Partly to mostly sunny, breezy. Highs: 76-82.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Lows: Near 50 to near 60.

Tomorrow: Mostly to partly sunny. Highs: Near 80 to mid-80s.

As Jason Samenow pointed out recently, our weekends have been remarkably nice for some time now. It’s especially crazy considering we’re running about 7-10 inches above normal on rainfall for the year locally. Against all odds, we’ve found another sparkling two days that are timed just right. A nice chance to dry out, take in some fresh air, and prepare for typical D.C. summer to come roaring back as we head to work on Monday.

nice day
Today (Saturday): Remnant clouds associated with the cold front that passed overnight could linger into the morning, but we’re looking at a partly sunny to mostly clear day and probably leaning toward the clearer side. A sometimes feisty breeze from the northwest (up to around 20 mph gusts) continues to pump in drier air through the day. 40s dew points in spots?? Could happen. Highs range from about 76-82, warmest south and in or around the city.  Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Do yourself a favor and spend time outdoors this evening. Winds will die off with sunset temperatures mainly in the near 70 to mid-70s range. After that, it might even feel cool as we get deeper into the mostly clear night. Lows eventually settle to near 50 in the coolest spots, while heading closer to 60 downtown. If winds fully die off, there could be some patchy fog late night or during the early morning. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Sunday): Take today, turn down the wind speeds, and turn up the thermostat oh so slightly. That’s tomorrow. Skies are mostly to partly sunny, with light northwest winds eventually turning to come from the west. Highs head for the near 80 to mid-80s range, and while humidity may begin to rise again it should remain highly tolerable. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Another pleasant night with winds continuing to shift more southerly, which means we start bringing moisture back more efficiently. That added moisture — plus some clouds floating by — should help keep lows from dipping much below the upper 50s to mid-60s zone across the area. Confidence: Medium

It is mid-June, so the weather of the weekend can’t last too long. Time to welcome back the humidity, and high temperatures on Monday! Under mostly sunny skies we should head for 90 or above most spots, with just an outside risk of a late day shower or thunderstorm. Confidence: Medium

If Monday wasn’t hot enough for you, Tuesday will try to deliver. Another “Triple H Day” of heat, haze and humidity. Standard D.C. summer… Right? Temperatures should be a little warmer, perhaps headed mainly into the low-and-mid 90s. We’ll need to watch storm complexes to the northwest to see if they try to work this way as well, though it remains a relatively low chance from here. Confidence: Medium
