Every day this upcoming work week flirts with or exceeds 90 degrees. There’s a legitimate chance we’ll reel off 5 straight 90+ days. Along with the heat comes the humidity, and by midweek, it feels like 100 or so. And along with the heat and humidity comes the opportunity for summertime boomers most late afternoons and/or evenings.

Today (Monday): After the weekend’s pleasant warmth, the uptick in humidity today is most unwelcome. Under partly to mostly sunny skies, highs reach the upper 80s to low 90s, but dew points climb into the upper 60s, adding unmistakable mugginess. Winds are from the south around 5 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: There’s a 40-50 percent chance of evening thunderstorms as a little disturbance zipping through the atmosphere interacts with the heat and humidity. An isolated storm could be on the strong to severe side. Otherwise, it’s partly cloudy and muggy, with lows in the upper 60s in our cooler suburbs to mid-70s downtown. Winds are light, out of the west.Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Partly sunny and hot. Highs head into the low 90s, with humidity levels uncomfortably high (dew points around 70). There’s just the outside (20-30 percent) chance of an isolated thunderstorm. Winds are from the west around 5-10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: About a 1 in 4 shot of evening thunderstorms. Otherwise, it’s your average Washington muggy night, with lows near 70 in the suburbs to the mid-to-upper 70s downtown. Winds are light. Confidence: Medium-High

Wednesday may be the hottest day of the week, with no relief from the stickiness. Under partly sunny skies, highs extend into the mid-90s, but feel closer to 100 factoring in the humidity. There’s a slight chance of storms late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night, but they may pass to our north. No real cool down Wednesday night, with lows spanning the 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

Thursday and Friday remain hot, and storm chances go up a bit as a cold front attempts to seep through the region. I think Thursday has a slightly better chance (50-60 percent) versus Friday (30-40 percent chance) as the front may be somewhat south of D.C. during the day (with storm chances favoring central and southern Virginia). Highs Thursday probably range from 90-95 with Friday closer to 90. Humidity levels may also drop modestly Friday compared to Thursday. Overnight lows Thursday night range from the upper 60s to mid-70s (downtown). Confidence: Medium

Unfortunately, our streak of picture perfect weekends may end. The front from Thursday and Friday stalls in our vicinity, keeping the opportunity for (mostly afternoon and evening) storms alive. Not a washout, though. Under variably cloudy skies it’s plenty humid, with highs both days in the upper 80s. Overnight lows are mainly from around 69-76 (suburbs-city). Confidence: Medium
