Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

Perfection. Or close enough for July. And in the middle of a holiday weekend!

Express Forecast

Today: Mostly sunny. Highs: Near 80 to mid-80s.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Lows: Mid-50s to mid-60s.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny. Highs: Mid-to-upper 80s.

Following one of the nicest Independence Days in recent memory around here, we’ve got another big time winner of a day ahead. While we round out the holiday weekend in mostly pleasant fashion, you know heat and humidity won’t be held at bay too long at this time of year. Both start to really roar back into the area on Monday.

nice day

Today (Saturday): Mostly sunny and beautiful. These are the kind of days in July you have to savor. Highs head for the near 80 to mid-80s range. Humidity is VERY low — you won’t even know it’s there! Winds are from the west and northwest around 10 mph at peak with higher gusts. Confidence: High

Tonight: With clear skies and light winds, plus still low if rising humidity, we’ll see a cool night for July. Expect a big range in temps from city to suburbs, with mid-50s likely in the cool spots and mid-60s more probable around Metro Center. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Sunday): This might be the best pool day of the weekend simply because you’ll be more likely to want to spend time in the water cooling off. Another day with lots of sunshine, and still quite tolerable humidity. With a south wind starting to take back over, look for highs to rise to the mid-and-upper 80s. Someone could touch 90. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Humidity is finally back into the range we might expect to see around here this time of year, and that added moisture helps more in the way of cloudiness develop as well. Given both of those factors, lows are held in the mid-60s to around 70. Not bad though, really. Confidence: Medium-High

For now, it appears we stay dry on Monday as a low pressure passes well to our north through Canada. It also seems we welcome back July weather more typical of the area. That means partly cloudy skies and highs rising to the low-and-mid 90s most spots. Let’s put a 10%-20% chance of a shower or storm in there just in case, mainly well west nearer the mountains. Confidence: Medium

Tuesday‘s looking rather gross. We rise off lows in the near 70 to mid-70s range back toward highs in the mid-90s. All that, plus dew points in the near 70 range. At least we had a well timed break for the holiday, right? A few late-day storms are a little more likely than Monday, but no major signal for anything widespread thus far. Confidence: Medium
