Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

Call me Goldilocks but low humidity and sunny mid-80s are  just right. But in deference to the “too cool pool bears” and “too hot outside working bear”, not quite.

Express Forecast

Today: Sun-filled, low humidity. Highs: 82-86.

Tonight: Star-filled, calm. Lows: 55-62.

Tomorrow: Sunny and still dry. Highs: 80-84.

The next couple of days are  about a good as dog days get around here with blissfully low humidity and pleasant temperatures.. There is even the chance for record lows in the region Friday night as readings fall into the 50s,  even downtown perhaps!

The weekend weather lapses into  a more “normal” August routine with slowly increasing humidity and temperatures. That raises the chance of a few thunderstorms although most go north of us  (not a bad deal given our soggy situation). All in all: a pretty good beach/pool kind of weekend.

nice day
Today (Thursday): Sunshine is the theme for the day with even pop  up clouds in short supply. Highs rise to the mid-80s. But, with the dry air and a relatively brisk breeze (west at 10-20 mph), it should still be quite comfortable. Confidence: High

Tonight: The breeze dies down and with 70s for the evening, time to find an outdoor grill! Clear skies and dry air allow lows to drop to the mid-50s suburbs to lower 60s downtown. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Friday): Clouds are an endangered species as blue skies rule. Even with the non-stop sunshine, highs only manage the lower 80s making for a very comfortable day.  That is in large part due to the ongoing lack of humidity. Plus, a light northwest breeze doesn’t hurt. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: That low humidity continues overnight and allows temperatures to drop  quickly as do calm winds  under starry skies. In fact, a record low or two in the area is possible as readings bottom out in the 50s – or even upper 40s in some of the coolest spots west and northwest. Confidence: High

Saturday starts to edge closer to a typical summer day as humidity rises (albeit not uncomfortably) and highs return to the mid-to-upper 80s under mostly sunny skies. It makes the beach, pool and shady  park all look  mighty appealing. The skies stay mainly clear until late night when clouds may filter down from some showers to our north. Lows are back  up  in  the 60s. Confidence: High

Sunday is a little trickier as showers and a few thunderstorms are likely to fire up to our north in Pennsylvania. It’s always possible a few could spill south into the area (40% chance). Still, skies much of the day allow sun through and highs should reach upper 80s in most of the region and could even touch 90 if the clouds are more sparse than expected.  Overnight lows slip to the upper 60s to lower 70s as  humidity  climbs. Confidence: Medium

Monday should  start out sunnier but leftovers from storms that originated from the Midwest are likely to cloud up skies by afternoon – with the highest chance for storms towards evening (40 percent chance). Prior to that, there’s just a 20 percent chance of scattered showers. Highs should be in the mid-to-upper 80s. Confidence: Medium
