Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 1 to 10.

Maybe not quite as nice as Friday, but close enough. And weekend digit inflation For The Win (FTW)!

Express Forecast

Today: Mostly sunny. Highs: Near 80 to mid-80s.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Lows: Low 60s to upper 60s.

Tomorrow: Partly cloudy. PM storm? Highs: Mid-80s to near 90.

While we hit “peak nice” yesterday, today is no slouch either. And even as temperatures warm up over the next couple, it won’t be an unbearable heat or anything. After we get past the middle of August it’s all certainly downhill, so take in these final weekends of summer for all they’re worth! Another early-week rain event to watch as well?

nice day
Today (Saturday): This is a mostly sunny and pleasant day. Standard summer 2014 really. Humidity remains low, but eventually winds should swing around to the south and that might help make it noticeable late. Highs are tasty, mainly in the low-and-mid 80s, but perhaps closer to 80 in a few spots well north and west. Winds blow around 5-8 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Mainly clear skies continue, presenting a wonderful evening for outdoor activities. That south wind keeps increasing the low-level moisture though, so you’ll definitely be feeling some mugginess at times. That moisture also helps keep temperatures up compared to recent nights, with lows ranging from the low 60s in the cooler suburbs to the mid-and-upper 60s in urban cores or near the water. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Sunday): Plentiful sunshine in the morning eventually gives way to cloudier intervals as the day progresses. Afternoon is partly to mostly cloudy. While there’s no widespread risk of storms, a few may roll into the area from the northwest during the afternoon. Most spots probably stay dry, but a few could see a downpour and some lightning (30% chance). Before clouds thicken up and any rain falls, highs are mainly in the mid-80s to near 90 range. Winds are from the southwest around 10 to 15 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: A shower or storm may persist into the evening before giving way to partly clear skies overnight. The return of humidity is well established at this point, so lows are typical of August around here, making the mid-60s to near 70. Winds are light from the south. Confidence: Medium-High

A low pressure system tracks this way from the west on Monday, but we should start off with enough sunshine to get see another day of quite warm conditions. By afternoon, clouds are on the increase, and some showers or storms could even work into the area that early, but the risk grows (40% chance) heading into the night. Temperatures rise mainly into the mid-and-upper 80s, but a few 90 degree readings are possible. Confidence: Medium

At least periodic rain and rumbles remain a threat (60% chance) overnight Monday and into Tuesday. Some rain could be heavy, and depending on the track of the system passing by, we may need to watch for a flash flood risk again. Timing is still uncertain, and Tuesday could either dry out by midday or stay showery throughout. We’ll fine tune as it closes. With more in the way of clouds expected, highs may get suck in the low-to-mid 80s. Should we see enough sun, it’s another mid-to-upper 80s day. Confidence: Medium
