Today’s Daily Digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

Combat those Monday blues with a beautiful blue sky, low humidity, and highs near 80 to the low 80s!

Express Forecast

Today: Mostly sunny. Highs: Near 80 to low 80s.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Lows: Mid-50s to mid-60s.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny. Highs: Low-to-mid 80s.

After a damp and dreary Saturday and a better Sunday, the work week (and first week of school for some) kicks off to a stellar start! A back-door cold front (a front that moves from east to west) moved through yesterday wiping away the clouds and low-level moisture, leaving high pressure in its wake. High pressure dominates through midweek producing mostly sunny skies, low humidity and comfortable temperatures, before storm chances return Thursday. While we continue to watch Tropical Storm Cristobal, all signs point to it staying well off the East Coast.

nice day

Today (Monday): Manic Monday? How about Marvelous Monday? With high pressure anchored above expect mostly sunny skies and highs from near 80 (western spots and locations adjacent to the Chesapeake Bay) to the low 80s pretty much everywhere else. Muah! Humidity is quite low, too, even with a light breeze from the east (5-10 mph) off the Atlantic. A great day to ride the bike to work and take your lunch outdoors! Confidence: High

Tonight: Summer nights don’t get much nicer than this with clear skies and mild overnight temperatures. Thanks to the lower humidity and drier air in place, we should see a fairly wide range of low temperatures, from the mid-50s in the north and west ‘burbs to the mid-60s for the D.C. and Baltimore metros. Confidence: High

nice day

Tomorrow (Tuesday): If today is a Marvelous Monday, then tomorrow is a Terrific Tuesday! Take Monday, add a couple degrees, and you’ve got another winner with highs in the low-to-mid 80s. Humidity remains low with a light and pleasant breeze from the southeast. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: We’re slightly warmer than the previous few nights, but still comfortable with lows in the upper 50s to mid-60s. Skies start out clear, but could see a slight increase in high cloud cover toward sunrise. Winds stay light, becoming more from the south or southwest in nature. Confidence: High

High pressure is still overhead on Wednesday, but winds from the south pump in warmer air and an uptick in humidity. Highs warm toward the mid-to-upper 80s and could even flirt with 90 under mostly sunny skies. Clouds increase Wednesday night and it feels more like August, with warmer lows in the mid-60s to near 70. Confidence: Medium-High

A cold front arrives Thursday bringing with it partly cloudy skies and a chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday, as highs reach the mid-to-upper 80s, and into Thursday night. Assuming the cold front clears the area, then Friday should round out the week on a nice weather note, as the humidity decreases again and highs top out in the upper 70s to mid-80s. Confidence: Medium

An early look at the Labor Day weekend shows no major systems affecting the area, but some potential for hotter highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. The warmer air mass combined with what could be moderate humidity levels may fuel a chance of isolated or scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially Sunday and Monday. Confidence: Low-Medium
