FORECAST IN DETAIL

Wow…what a week we’ve got coming up! Pretty much every single day looks magnificent, with partly to mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s.  The lone wrinkles are late tonight and also perhaps Sunday when we could see a few showers.  Both chances of rain are less than 50 percent. With September’s rain total an inch below normal and growing, I suspect we’ll see more sprinklers running this week and perhaps some complaints about the lack of water.

Today (Monday): After a chilly (40s and 50s – grab a fleece) – and in a few places foggy – start, temperatures warm delightfully.  By noon, most of us are near 70, with afternoon highs mainly in the mid-70s.  Winds are light, with partly to mostly sunny skies. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Increasing clouds this evening with a 20-30 percent chance of showers, mainly after midnight.  Lows range from the mid-to-upper 50s in our cooler suburbs to low 60s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): A slight chance of shower early in the morning (mainly east of I-95) followed by decreasing clouds.  The afternoon is positively splendid, with a high near 75. It’s a bit breezy, with winds out of the northwest at 10-15 mph, gusting to 20 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Clear and crisp, with winds going calm.  Lows range from the mid-40s in our cooler suburbs to the mid-50s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

The stretch from Wednesday to Saturday should be fantastic with high pressure to the north locking us into super pleasant fall weather.  A weak disturbance may increase clouds and produce a sprinkle Thursday or Thursday night, but it probably remains dry.  Highs in this span mostly range from 70-75, with overnight lows from the upper 40s in our cooler suburbs to the upper 50s to around 60 in the city. Confidence: Medium

Ahead of a cold front, Sunday may be the week’s warmest day, with temperatures taking a run through the 70s and perhaps flirting with 80.  The front may bring some showers late in the day, but it may hold off until night or come through dry (without any rain). Confidence: Low-Medium
