A gorgeous sunrise over Washington D.C. on Thursday morning. “Credit goes to Mother Nature herself,” says photographer Zac Andereck. (Zac Andereck via Twitter)

If you were up around 7 a.m., you might have seen the sky turn to pink and orange as the sun crept toward the horizon. Beautiful skies were seen over D.C. as well as Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland.

Wispy high clouds and clear air provided a perfect canvas for the sun’s rays.

Janine Czarnecki even caught the National Weather Service morning balloon launch in her sunrise photo! The large round object in the foreground is the radar, and you can just make out the weather balloon to the lower left of it.

Thanks to everyone who sent us beautiful images this morning!
