FORECAST IN DETAIL
High pressure is parked squarely over the area the next three days. The sun-filled days are giving nearly equal time to the starry nights as astronomical fall arrives next week. A cold front hobbles into the area Sunday and parks over the area early next week. But it looks as if the front just teases the region with moisture as shower amounts likely remain anemic. Someone call in a tropical storm, stat!
Today (Thursday): High clouds are likely to stretch across the skies early from a storm much too far to our south. Even those clouds quickly fade away as skies go back to a beautiful deep blue thanks to the dominant dry air. Highs are mainly mid-80s except lower 80s around the Bay. Winds are calm. Confidence: High
Tonight: The ever earlier sunset allows stars to fill the night sky. The evening is divine with temps falling through the 70s and only a hint of breeze. Lows cover a wide range from the mid-50s outer suburbs to mid-60s downtown. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Friday): Sunshine is unabated from dawn to dusk. A light south breeze is barely noticeable. Highs yet again reach the mid-80s across the majority of the area. Confidence: High
Tomorrow night: The clear evening sky is welcome as it affords an unobstructed view of the crescent moon and Saturn joining together on the western horizon. The readings in the 70s make it worthwhile for a venture outside as well. Calm conditions prevail and lows slip to the 60s before dawn. Confidence: High
A LOOK AHEAD
Saturday finishes the week out just the way it started…and continued…with mainly sunny skies, light winds, and highs in the mid-80s. The overnight is still star-filled ( I am thrilled to see Orion back in the early morning sky) and lows again range through the 60s across the region. Confidence: High
A cold front slowly approaches from the west on Sunday capping highs in the mid-70s to 80. There is a slight chance of a few showers (20%), but amounts will be hard pressed to exceed a tenth of an inch. Cooler air does spill into the area overnight with lows in the 50s. Confidence: Medium-High
Monday has a good deal of clouds and once again there is a chance (20%) of a shower or two. Cooler air is firmly in place with highs only in the low-to-mid 70s. As far as meaningful rain though, chances are low. Confidence: Medium
