A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

10/10: Spring fever in full, fantastic swing.

Today: Mostly sunny. Highs: Near 80 to low 80s.
Tonight: Mild evening. Lows: 50s.
Tomorrow: Partly to mostly sunny. Highs: Near 80.

The snow piles are long gone, and it’s a good thing cause we’d have a melting problem on our hands as temperatures toy with the 80-degree mark both today and tomorrow. We’re talking potentially record-challenging highs, before cooler but still comfortable conditions move in for Friday and the weekend, which does feature a chance of showers.

Today (Wednesday): Our spring fling should continue to deliver as advertised today, with morning temperatures quickly rising through the 50s and into the 60s, and afternoon highs surging to near 80 to the low 80s. All under mostly sunny skies, with a warm breeze from the southwest near 10 mph. The following record highs for the day are in jeopardy: 80 degrees at Reagan National (1964), 79 degrees at Dulles (2000) and at BWI (1964). Confidence: High

Tonight: An excellent evening to be out and about as temperatures ease back into the 60s. Overnight lows settle in the 50s with partly cloudy skies and a light wind. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Pretty much a carbon copy of today, with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs rising to near 80. Winds remain around 10 mph from the southwest. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Skies may turn partly to mostly cloudy, and a few light showers are possible as a cold front approaches. If anything it’s even a touch warmer than tonight, with lows in the mid-50s to near 60. Confidence: Medium

Could see a passing shower or two and considerable clouds Friday morning. That means a cooler day, but still quite nice with brightening afternoon skies and highs in the mid-60s to low 70s. Friday night lows fall back to the mid-40s to low 50s. Confidence: Medium

The weekend brings a cloudier pattern, with a 40% chance of showers each day and highs in the 60s to near 70. The shower chance applies to Saturday night as well, with lows near 50 to the mid-50s as we lose an hour of sleep. Confidence: Low-Medium
