FORECAST IN DETAIL

Find a way to soak in the sun and warmth today, as it’ll be another stellar spring day, with ample sun and comfortable humidity levels. Warming accelerates on Monday as temperatures near or exceed 80 degrees, a reading we last saw on the first day of April. Temperatures retreat to more seasonal levels as we head into midweek, but it stays dry.

Today (Sunday): The weather is cooperative for any of your outdoor ventures all day long. Expect nearly wall-to-wall sun (with a few wispy clouds passing by on occasion). A cool morning leads into a pleasantly mild afternoon with highs generally in the low 70s. Winds are light, around 5 to 10 mph, and from the northeast. Confidence: High

Tonight: Temperatures drop through the 60s this evening and into the 50s by late evening, before bottoming out in the 40s (suburbs) to near 50 to the low 50s (inside the Beltway). It’ll be another star-lit sky, a beautiful sight to see. Winds remain light around 5 mph.  Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): Warmth peaks as the high pressure responsible for this stretch of glorious weather stays overhead. Temperatures rapidly rise through the 50s and 60s during the morning, and should be well into the 70s by lunchtime under a mostly sunny sky. Afternoon highs reach the upper 70s to low 80s, with dew points still fairly dry in the mid-40s to near 50, which is a comfortable combination despite the warmer air. Winds are from the northwest at 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: A warmer day also yields a warmer night with milder lows ranging through the 50s, except perhaps holding up near 60 in the city. Could see some passing clouds ahead of a front advancing south through New England, as winds remain light out of the northwest. Confidence: High

A LOOK AHEAD

The front crosses the area on Tuesday, but without much fanfare other than partly cloudy skies offering a slight chance of a shower. Slightly cooler air moves into the region as well, though temperatures still remain above average with highs near 70 to the mid-70s.  Confidence: Medium

Wednesday is another notch cooler, but still on the mild side with highs managing the mid-to-upper 60s. We remain mostly sunny as a fresh area of high pressure settles in. Confidence: Medium
