TODAY’S DAILY DIGIT
A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.
7/10: Morning is a bit iffy. Afternoon looks mighty nice though, especially if you don’t mind some wind.
Today: AM shower chance. Clearing, breezy. Highs: Mid-60s to near 70.
Tonight: Mostly clear. Lows: 41-49.
Tomorrow: Mostly sunny. Highs: Mid-60s to near 70.
FORECAST IN DETAIL
This weekend might not be quite as perfect as last weekend, although it really won’t be that far off especially if you sleep in this morning. The last remnants of yesterday’s system are on the way out and sunshine is on the way in. Breezes are common today, yet things calm down for a spectacularly sunny Sunday.
Today (Saturday): The last bit of energy associated with the unsettled weather is passing by this morning. It could allow some showers to drop in from the north. If so, it shouldn’t amount to a whole lot, and it’s all headed south of the area by early afternoon. As soon as the shower risk wanes, clouds depart in a hurry. A northwest breeze around 15-20 mph in the afternoon should feel quite nice when matched up with highs in a 66-72 zone most spots. Confidence: Medium-High
Tonight: If it’s not totally clear by sunset, it will be shortly thereafter. I think it’ll be clear before then though! It’s a pleasantly chilly night, with low temperatures reaching the 40s most spots. The cooler north and west suburbs are mainly in the low 40s. Might someone touch the 30s? Possible. Confidence: High
Tomorrow (Sunday): In addition to reaching “Nice Day” criteria, this one could end up a 10 on the Daily Digit scale. It’s really about as good as it gets. Sunshine, light wind, and high temperatures reaching the upper 60s to near 70. Just roll around in the sunscreen before headed out. Confidence: High
Tomorrow night: This air mass isn’t quite as fresh anymore, so temperatures are up from tonight. We’re talking a range of about mid-40s in the coolest spots to mid-50s downtown. Rather pleasant. Keep the windows cracked? Confidence: Medium-High
A LOOK AHEAD
High pressure is strongly in control on Monday as a storm system gathers over the western United States. Given we’re closing in on May now, any sunny day with high pressure is bound to be rather warm. Highs in the near 80 to mid-80s zone are a good bet. At least we’re still largely talking a dry heat as dew points are in the 40s and 50s. This one could also attain a Nice Day stamp, but it might also end up too warm. I’ll hold off for now. Confidence: Medium-High
Coming off morning lows in the upper 50s and lower 60s, Tuesday‘s feeling more like late spring or early summer. You might notice a touch of humidity as temperatures rise into the low-and-mid 80s out ahead of a weak front. That front could bring some showers and thunderstorms by late in the day. Confidence: Medium
