A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

9/10: The afternoon borders on too hot for some of us, but it’s hard to complain with humidity still in check.

Today: Mostly sunny and very warm. Highs: Mid-80s to near 90.
Tonight: Mostly clear and mild. Lows: Upper 50s to mid-60s.
Tomorrow: Partly sunny, isolated late-day storm? Highs: Mid-80s to near 90.

Mother Nature treats us to our second straight warm and sunny day today, as if the first 23 days of the month never happened. The summery pattern continues through Friday, with the chance of an isolated thunderstorm or two along the way. Saturday looks like a great start to the holiday weekend, but could it go downhill from there?

Today (Wednesday): From too cool to too hot? Mostly sunny skies send morning temperatures rapidly rising through the 60s and 70s, with afternoon highs maxing out in the mid-80s to near 90. Humidity is still on the low side, so we don’t have to worry much about the heat index quite yet. Winds are light, around 5-10 mph from the southwest. Confidence: High

Tonight: We’ll hang on to mostly clear skies and light winds. So evening temperatures should steadily drop back through the 80s and 70s. Overnight lows are several degrees above average, mainly in the low-to-mid 60s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Some clouds may enter the picture tomorrow as humidity starts to become a little more noticeable (with dew points into the low 60s) and light winds come from the south. Still, we should manage at least partly sunny skies, and it’s another warm one with highs back into the mid-80s to near 90. We’ll also have just enough moisture for the chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm in the late afternoon or evening. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: The chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm continues through the evening. Then we’re just partly to mostly cloudy overnight and even warmer than tonight, with lows likely to be in the mid-60s to near 70. Confidence: Medium-High

Friday has a sultrier feel to it with partly sunny skies, higher humidity, and highs again in the mid-80s to near 90. With the atmosphere a bit more unstable, we also have a 30 percent chance of a few scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and evening. Friday night remains rather summery, with lows in the mid-60s to near 70. Confidence: Medium

Saturday looks like a mostly sunny and slightly less-humid day, with highs in the 80s, and shower and storm chances slim to none. Status quo Saturday night as lows drop back to the 60s. Confidence: Medium-High

The more likely scenario (70 percent chance) for Sunday is partly sunny with highs in the 80s and just a small chance of showers. The only fly in the ointment is if a storm system off the Southeast coast moves toward us more quickly than anticipated (30 percent chance), keeping us cooler and cloudier with increasing rain chances. Confidence: Low-Medium

That storm system lurking to the south is more likely to affect the area on Memorial Day, which could mean a cloudier holiday, with highs in the 70s and a better chance of rain. However, with the uncertain evolution and track of this system at this time, a drier and warmer day (highs in the 80s) isn’t out of the question. Confidence: Low
