After today, in which the humidity is fairly tame, the mugginess hovers at unseemly levels for the rest of the week. Heat joins the humidity, and we’re left with a multiday steam bath. Despite all the moisture in the air, late day storm chances are mostly low, though they slowly increase as the week wears on.

Today (Monday): Today brings a mix of clouds and sun. While humidity levels are moderately high (dew points mid-60s), they’re not yet horribly uncomfortable. Highs are in the mid-to-upper 80s. Winds from the northeast become out of the south during the afternoon. Confidence: High

Tonight: The mugginess begins. A weak warm front slipping through the region could trigger a few scattered storms, but most of us are dry. Lows are within a few degrees of 70. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): It starts to feel like a steam bath. Humidity is high as temperatures reach the upper 80s under partly sunny skies. Winds continue out of the south and southeast. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: We could see a stray evening thundershower or two, but most of us are dry and stay that way overnight. Lows are warm — only slipping back to 70-75. Confidence: Medium-High

The period Wednesday through Friday is hazy, hot and very humid. Highs each day are near 90, with dew points 70-75. In the late afternoon and evening, there’s a daily 20-30 percent chance of a storm — but no day has a particularly strong storm signal at this point. Overnight, temperatures won’t cool a ton — as lows are mostly near 70 in our cooler suburbs and in the mid-to-upper 70s downtown. Confidence: Medium

The weekend may well feature more of the same hot and humid weather, though, at some point, a front may approach and set off some storms. It could be Saturday, Sunday or the front could stall and produce (mostly late day) storm chances both days. Stay tuned for updates as the week wears on. Confidence: Low-Medium
